What's new on NAGRP animal genome web site (#2, 2008)

1.
A new computational pipeline, called "SNPidentifier", to discover SNPs
based on CAP3 alignments is available for free download. For details,
see Bowen et al., "SNP discovery in Litopenaeus vannamei with a new
computational pipeline" (in the coming issue of Animal Genetics).

NAGRP Blast Server: Several improvements have been continuously made.

 o mpiBlast are added to NAGRP blast engines to make use of the
   power of the new cluster computer acquired a while ago.

 o The NAGRP Blast Center has updated its sequence database by adding
   10+ New sequence databases.  The sequence database verses blast engine
   (mpiBLAST and ncbiBLAST) selection is re-organized so that heavy duty
   jobs is normally handled with mpiBLAST.

 o Traditional Blast revived for some large data sets (parallel to
   mpiBLAST) to meet the needs for graphics representation of blast
   results as requested by users.

 o New draft pig genome assembly sequences are updated for blast database.
   It's planned that the update will be made quarterly when the Sanger
   Institute regularly releases the new assembly.

QTLdb: Thanks to efforts by Cathy Ernst's group at the Michigan State
University, 156 new pig QTL were added to the pig QTL database.

the recent progress we have made.
